Monthly Treatment Taster Evenings

What is it about complementary therapies that provide such enormous benefit to many? Is it the simple time-out? Is it the gentle touch on the energetic system that brings in healing or balancing of the natural body systems? Or is it the ability to reach an inner peace that allows the body to heal physical ailments and cope with the challenges of life? Well the therapists at Soundsphere Holistic Centre in Peebles are inviting locals to come and experience it for themselves with a new series of monthly Treatment Taster Evenings on the second Monday of every month.
The Taster evenings will allow people to try a treatment in exchange for a donation, plus each month there will be a demonstration of a particular method, and free tea and coffee. The first evening is planned for Monday 11 June 7.00-9.00pm and tasters of reflexology, acupuncture, sound therapy, and head massage will be available. Plus there will be a demonstration of Hopi Ear Candles, a chance to find out more about Medical Herbalism and try a special hand blended herbal tea.

Some words from previous clients:
“The different sounds affected my body and mind, some being very gentle, some very dramatic with vibrations filling my body almost to the point of shaking; some stimulating visual effects with colours, lights and symbols; feeling with some that I was drinking the note in wishing it not to end.”
“Amazing experience” “I have never experienced anything like it, totally wonderful” “The most relaxed I have ever felt”
“My sleep patterns have definitely improved” “My back pain has completely gone”
“I feel a greater sense of balance and ability to cope with life”
“Very powerful” I have trained in several healing therapies myself, but I feel that the sound healing gave me the most profound experience.
“I felt totally energised afterwards” I felt very relaxed after the treatments, much different to how I went in.

Sound and Tribal Healing Arts Retreat June 2012

Dear Friend,

This retreat offers the opportunity to become fully immersed in a deep and powerful weekend of sound and tribal healing arts that aims to give you a full experience, a connection with nature, as well as a lighthearted weekend with friends. The weekend will include an Opening Fire Ceremony, Sound Healing Workshops incorporating Voice, Bowls and Drum, Sound Journeys and Medicine Songs…all in a spirit of love, friendship and community.

The weekend will be hosted by Anthar Kharana of Tribal Healing Sounds and Suzanne Harris of Soundsphere.  Further details on their work can be found on their websites- see links below. Anthar and Suzanne have been working together since 2007 sharing their soundwork and music with people all over the country.

The venue for the weekend will be Wiston Lodge, a former Victorian Hunting Lodge built in the 1850s. It is located near Lanark in Scotland, an hour from both Glasgow and Edinburgh and 10 minutes from the M74 (J13). The house and grounds offer a remote rural experience, far from any shops and other distractions. It is set within a 52 acre estate of woodland and offers plenty of peace, space and support for our group.

There are three bunkhouse cabins, each with two bedrooms, WC and shower, catering for 6 people each. All bedding is provided. A fourth communal cabin houses a small kitchen, seating and games.
* If the cabins become full, there is also the possibility of CAMPING next to the cabins and further information on this can be provided nearer the time.

All meals will be provided throughout the retreat, from an evening meal on the Friday evening, to lunch on the Sunday. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as a buffet style in the communal cabin, and dinner on Friday and Saturday will be provided in the main house. The menu will be vegetarian.

The weekend retreat price will include all sessions, plus accommodation and food. Your place will be confirmed on receipt of the deposit.

Talks, Workshops, Journeys – Feb & March 2012

Divine, Gongs, Drums, Journeys and Retreats!

Here is some further information on the latest events coming up
Wednesday 22 February. Talk: Sound of the Divine. (Part of the Middle Eastern Festival for Spirituality and Peace
How does the divine name sound? Jonathan Goldman has recently released the true sounding of the name of God into human consciousness, after allegedly being removed from religious texts over 2,300 years ago. This mini talk and workshop will be an exploration into this sound. Working with our voices, breath and intention to deeply experience the sound of the divine name, we aim to discover how it affects us, what mystery it holds, and how it can be used productively. The evening will be presented by Scottish Sound Therapist Suzanne Harris who has been working with Jonathan Goldman on the teaching of this sound. See:
Venue: Edinburgh Theosophical Society, 28 Great King Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6QH.
Time: 7pm-9pm. Cost: £10/£8 (Concessions). Contact: Suzanne Harris, 07875 272571

Friday 24 February: Planetary Gong Bath.  (Part of the Middle Eastern Festival for Spirituality and Peace
Be immersed in the power of the gong during this deeply relaxing and energising evening. As you lay down, the powerful frequencies from the planetary gongs will create layer upon layer of tones that cocoon you in an envelope of relaxing and potentially healing and transformational sounds. The gong is believed to have originated in Mesopotamia during the Bronze Age, and some say “it transports them to different realms.” The evening will be delivered by experienced Practitioners of Sound Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy, Suzanne Harris and Helen Harris who has also trained with Gong Master Don Conreaux. See:
Venue: Edinburgh Theosophical Society, 28 Great King Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6QH. Time: 7.30pm-9.30pm.

Saturday March 18th: Meet the Happy Drum!
Throughout the ages the drum has been used as a tool of connection, communication and celebration. In Colombia the main drum, Alegre or Happy Drum, has a particular tradition and is historically made from a sacred tree called Ceiba. During the day you will learn about their history, their use in modern day, and join a drum circle where you will learn to play patterns. Some djembe drums will be available to borrow or please bring your own. Suitable for beginners as well as those with  some experience. Led by RBGE scientist James Richardson and Colombian ethnic-musician Anthar Kharana. 10.30-5pm, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. £50/£45. Booking via RBGE 0131 248 2937
